The Ritual

Shadow Work is about exploring and embracing our inner selves - our rawest emotions and urges, as much as it is connecting with the larger forces of death and rebirth, the chaos of creation and destruction, etc. In order to transform, we must be ready to face the truest version of ourselves.

Before beginning your ritual, take the time to choose a dark feminine guide or archetype for your journey. Kali, Isis, Lakshmi, Lilith, Persephone, and Hekate are all examples of dark goddesses. Do some research and find a representation that resonates with you.

Find a crossroads or other liminal space for your ritual. Carve your goddess' name into the wax and light your candle. Speak her name aloud and ask for her blessing and guidance on this journey. Focus on the flame and smoke - imagine the smoke engulfing you in darkness, as the warmth of the flame fills you and ignites the Dark Feminine energy within.

Now you are ready to connect with your goddess and engage in shadow work. Meditate, journal, scry, read tarot - do whatever feels right to connect with the wisdom of the sacred darkness. Remember to set aside time each week or throughout the lunar cycle to practice your shadow work and commune with your goddess guide. Light your candle whenever you need to connect with the Dark Feminine and feel empowered in everyday life.

How To Use

We recommend burning your candle for at least two hours on the first use. When burning for the first time, allow the wax to melt to the edge of the glass. Trim the candle wick before each use to approximately 1/4" (5mm). We recommend burning candles for approximately 4 hours at a time. Never leave a candle burning unattended or within reach of drafts, fabric, pets, or small children. Candle vessel will be hot after burning, so allow the wax to cool completely before handling.
