This Winter Solstice, we're going back to the old ways and the old gods with a collection inspired by the longest night and what lurks within it.
Winter Solstice is the longest darkest night of the year, and according to folklore, if you’re brave enough to leave your home on the darkest night, be sure to keep salt in your pocket for it is believed that this is the night The Wild Hunt rides out.
The Wild Hunt exists in different forms within various cultures, but the most common versions are led by Odin, King of the Gods, or the Erl-King, Ruler of the Fae. In some versions of the story, it is a midwinter procession of the spirits of the wood, and in others, it is a chaotic ride of supernatural beings hunting all those who are not safely ensconced in their warm, bright homes.
But, whether friendly or dangerous, The Wild Hunt serves as a reminder that though snow and darkness blanket the earth, the woods and the fields are not gone forever and life will return in the Spring.
Inspired by the midwinter ride, The Wild Hunt is an mauve grey with a hint of lilac shimmer.
